Peter L. Freeman Peter’s practice specializes in all aspects of land use and real estate development, with a particular emphasis on affordable housing and the Comprehensive Permit statute. He is a 1971 graduate of Yale College, and he earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1975. He frequently represents clients in front of municipal zoning boards and the Housing Appeals Committee. He has been involved in projects creating more than 1,500 units of low and moderate income housing. Peter is also a member of the Construction Industry Panel of the American Arbitration Association, and has served as Arbitrator on numerous real estate and construction disputes. As an outgrowth of his real estate experience, Peter has for many years been a part-time faculty member at Boston University School of Law. Since 1993, he has been an Adjunct Professor of Law. He teaches seminars in the fields of Affordable Housing Law and Historic Preservation Law. He has also served as Chairman of the Old King’s Highway Regional Historic District Commission, and has been involved with numerous non-profit organizations on Cape Cod.

Peter’s recent teaching engagements include the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers seminar on Chapter 40B in March of 2003, the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education seminars on Comprehensive Permit Law in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and the Lorman Education seminars on Affordable Housing in December of 2004 and 2005, as well as numerous conferences sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development and CHAPA. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee established by the Massachusetts Housing Partnership to establish Guidelines for the Review of Comprehensive Permit Applications.
